Farmers Adopting Computer Training (FACT) Computer Descriptions

 
FarmWin Fundamentals
 
This 6-hour course will introduce students to the fundamental features of FarmWin, an application that assist farmers in maintaining accurate business records of their farm operation.  Students will learn the basics of creating a new farm within the software for maintaining records, create a basic production record and operation template, and add inventory items.  Perquisites: Introduction To Computers, Basic Computers, or equivalent skills.
 
Creating a Farm Template with FarmWin
 
This 9-hour course will introduce students to the fundamentals of creating a form template within FarmWin, an application that assist farmers in maintaining accurate business records of their farm operation.  Students will learn the basics of creating a new farm template within the software for maintaining records for their farm.  Prerequisites: Introduction To Computers, Basic Computers, or equivalent skills.
 
Creating Production Records with FarmWin
 
This 9-hour course will introduce students to the fundamentals of creating production records within FarmWin, an application that assist farmers in maintaining accurate business records of their farm operation.  Students will learn the basics of creating production records within the software for maintaining records for their farm.  Prerequisites: Introduction To Computers, Basic Computers, or equivalent skills.
 
Creating Operation Templates with FarmWin
 
This 9-hour course will introduce students to the fundamentals of creating operation templates within FarmWin, an application that assist farmers in maintaining accurate business records of their farm operation.  Students will learn the basics of creating a operation templates within the software for maintaining records for their farm.  Prerequisites: Introduction To Computers, Basic Computers, or equivalent skills.
 
Adding Inventory Items with FarmWin
 
This 9-hour course will introduce students to the fundamentals of adding inventory items within FarmWin, an application that assist farmers in maintaining accurate business records of their farm operation.  Students will learn the basics of adding inventory items within the software for maintaining records for their farm.  Prerequisites: Introduction To Computers, Basic Computers, or equivalent skills.

Human Resources Development (HRD)
Computer Courses
 

The Human Resources Development (HRD) program provides skill assessment services, employability skills training, and career development to unemployed and underemployed adults.  Any HRD computer class registration may be waived (free) if the student is unemployed, has a low income, has received notice of a pending lay off, or has an income at or below two hundred percent (200%) of the federal poverty guidelines.

Keyboarding Skills for the Workplace
 
Students will become familiar with the keyboard and computer hand/finger placement.  Students will learn about work area ergonomics in relation to the computer and the keyboard.  Students will develop their keyboarding and speed skills through various hands-on exercises.  Students will develop fundamental skills for preparing employment related documents.  Prerequisites: None.
 
Basic Computers for the Workplace
 
Students will obtain a general knowledge of computers, basic computer terms, and basic computer-use skills, which will improve the students' employability.  The students will be introduced to the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) function when working with documents.  Students will also get an introduction to a computer operation system.  Prerequisites: None.
 
Computer Empowerment for the Workplace
 
Students will obtain an understanding of a word processing application and its basic features.  Students will utilize the word processing application to create employment documents.  Students will also be introduced to a spreadsheet application and its basic features.  Students will prepare employment related spreadsheet documents.  Prerequisites: None.
 
Employment Planning on the Internet
 
Students will become familiar with fundamentals of utilizing the Internet for employment related needs.  Topics to be covered include Web browsing, search 3engines, keywords, and e-mail.  By the end of this course, students will be able to utilize the Internet for employment related purpose.  Prerequisites: None.
